Regarding Duncan Kane.
The interview with Teddy Dunn explained a lot. It seems to me that if there ever was a clear vision for the character of Duncan Kane, it was subsequently dissected, amputated and stitched back together with different limbs, until eventually it was unrecognizable to the original.
I’ve said this…
I can’t agree that I liked him in the beginning. We didn’t know why he just dropped Veronica in the beginning so I honestly never cared for the way he just walked away. I think because I saw him in that light, all the little bits and pieces that led to the big issues kept me down that rabbit hole of thinking “Duncan is a jerk,” even after it’s revealed why he behaved that way and by that time I was already to full blown hatred lol.
I think writing would have gone a different route IF KBell and JDoh didn’t have the chemistry that was just so tangible from episode 1+.
But the way that the writers handled it. How they kind of let Duncan come in to fill his old shoes when he clearly no longer fit them or the role that he had before Lily’s death was like liquid torture that sat in my stomach for the majority of season 2 he was actually around for.
The way it played out, there was only one redeeming quality that he was given, ever. And that was Aaron’s death. Gotta say, to this day you’re the only one that’s managed to write a version of Duncan that I can stand :3
